Buying Business Print

1. Do your Home Work – Before contacting you printer it is always an idea to know what you are looking to achieve. If you want Business Cards, will they be single or double sided? How many versions of artwork? These may seem basic, but you would be surprised how many calls are received where these factors haven’t been considered.

2. Ask for advice – Newton Press has been functioning for over 20 years and so we know a thing or two when it comes to print and the different options available. Don’t be afraid to ask for help, we pride ourselves on customer service and will be more than happy to advise on materials, finishes and artwork to help you achieve your end goal.

3. Plan Ahead – Lead times differ between products and different printing companies. Here at Newton Press we always advise to allow 3 weeks from artwork approval to receiving your product.

4. Don’t skimp on artwork – We have two members of staff whose sole job is to produce print ready artwork. If you want a design that is going to represent your business, a professional image, leave it to the professionals. We will ensure that every image we source is not only high resolution, but is also licensed for our use as well as locating the crop marks correctly and using the correct amount of bleed.

5. Supplying your content to the printer – Ensure that if you are supplying images for print that they are high resolution, we recommend no less than 300DPI. Thinking that you can pull an image of a website will not cut the mustard as they will not be good enough quality and you also run the risk of copyright prosecution if you do not have permission to use it.

6. Proof means Proof – Ensure that when you receive your email proof, that you check everything, twice, three times and even a forth. Once you have done this, get somebody else to check it again. Once this stage has been approved you are liable for any mistakes and could become costly. All the Staff at Newton Press will do their upmost to rectify any mistakes noticed along the way but ultimately, once approved, it is your responsibility.

7. Reviews make us stronger – We love to receive reviews, good or bad we want to hear about your experiences when using us. We are constantly working hard to maintain a high level service and we can only improve further by listening to your comments. Our team across the board also like to hear when we’ve done a good job so please take the time to fill in our review form.

8. We’re not a one hit wonder – One-off jobs are common in the print world, but they don’t have to be. We produce a lot of different products, far more than I’m sure you are aware of so please bare us in mind for any future branding requirements.
