Social media marketing is a powerful way for businesses of all sizes to reach prospects and customers. Most people are on some form of social media now so if you’re not speaking directly to your audience through social platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn etc, then you are absolutely missing out. Great marketing on social media can have an amazing effect on your business – even driving leads and sales.

Social media marketing can help with a number of goals such as:

You will want to pay careful attention to the layout of your content on here as visual component is a key aspect of the Facebook experience. Also consider a cost-effective Facebook advertising strategy which can have big impact on your page and boost your ‘likes’. The more ‘likes’ you gain, the bigger your audience. A good way to gain extra ‘likes’ and extra traffic to your page is to run competitions – so consider this when starting out.


Twitter is the social media marketing tool that lets you broadcast your updates across the web. You can follow other tweeters in your industry or related and you should gain a steady stream of followers in return. Mix up your official tweets about discounts and offers with fun, brand-building tweets. Make sure you retweet when a customer has something nice to say about you. Twitter revolves largely around communication, so be sure to interact as much as possible to build your following.


LinkedIn is a more professional social media marketing site. It is a great place for entering into professional communication with people in similar industries and provides a place to share content with like-minded individuals. Encourage customers to give your business a recommendation on your LinkedIn profile. Recommendations make your business appear more credible and reliable to new customers. Also browse the Questions section of LinkedIn, providing answers helps you get yourself established and earns trust.

A couple of tips on social media marketing:
Stay consistent with other areas of online marketing. Make sure you post regularly to keep your audience engaged, and offer valuable information that your ideal customers will find helpful and interesting. The content you share can include images, videos, how-to guides, blogs and so much more, it really is endless.
Make sure you keep an idea on your competitors. If your competitors are using a certain social media marketing channel or a technique that seems to be working for them, consider it too, but make sure you do it better!
Communicating with your prospective customers is so important. Encourage your audience to ask you questions and interact with you – it really helps establish you as a brand online.
