Taking that perfect photo for your printed promotional material

There is no need to go out and buy the most expensive camera you can afford thinking that this will take the perfect photo, the best camera you can have is the one you have with you, so you never miss that perfect opportunity.

The following are just some hints and tips that will help you get that ‘perfect shot’:

1. The Closer the better, fill the frame with your subject, so there is not so much wasted space.

2. “Painting with light!”. See which direction the light is coming from, and use it to your advantage. Its not important whether or not it is artificial light or natural light from the sun, use the light to make your photos look more interesting, with highlighting certain areas or casting shadows.

3. Use the flash, even during the day, this can help fill in those not so pleasant shadows and create a more even exposure.

4. Use surrounding elements to lead the viewer into the picture, don’t try and get everything into your shot but do use what is there wisely, think about how to lead the viewers eye into the focal point of your shot.

5. Try to take your shot from a more interesting angle, Getting yourself up high, Crouching down or even try to lie down on certain shots. This all helps create a more dramatic outcome in your photo.

6. Push the button and don’t be afraid of the outcome, practice makes perfect.
