Artwork Problems

PDF’s
Newton Press Ltd recommend you supply a press ready PDF file where possible. All fonts must be embedded and the file must be high resolution (300dpi or higher). The file needs to be in CMYK, RGB files can be printed but Newton Press Ltd cannot be responsible for unexpected results in colour reproduction.

Other Formats
Newton Press Ltd also accepts artwork in the following file formats:
Jpeg, EPS & Tiff. file must be high resolution (300dpi or higher).

The file needs to be in CMYK, RGB files can be printed but Newton Press Ltd cannot be responsible for unexpected results in colour reproduction.

Bleed
All designs that bleed off the edge of a document must have a bleed area of at least 3mm to ensure no white edge appears when guillotined down to finished size.

Hard Copy
It is good practice to supply a hard copy of your artwork by post see contact details for our postal address. This is for our design studio to be able to see what you intended your artwork to look like so we can check for any text or image shift within your supplied document.

Please note that any adjustments maybe subject to a studio time charge please enquire if you are not sure - to avoid any unexpected additional costs.

Quark Xpress
Newton Press Ltd currently works with Quark Xpress 6.5, if using a later version please back save to this version, please use the “collect for output” option found under the file menu within quark xpress to collect all the images and fonts used within your document - all images should be within 20% of actual size printed and in CYMK colour space saved at least 300dpi - please also see hard copy above.

Adobe Photoshop
Newton Press Ltd currently works with Adobe Photoshop 7.0, please flatten your layers before supplying your artwork - RGB files can be used for Large format and digital printing, CYMK colour mode needs to be used if your order is going to be printed Litho - please enquire to which process your order will be produced - please also see hard copy above.

Adobe Illustrator
Newton Press Ltd currently works with Adobe illustrator 10.0, if using a later version please back save to this version - all fonts used must be converted to outlines to unsure a substitute font is not used when the file is ripped - please also see hard copy above.

Adobe InDesign
Newton Press Ltd currently works with Adobe Indesign 2.0, if using a later version please back save to this version - please also see hard copy above.

Microsoft Word
Newton Press Ltd can accept microsoft word files, however as microsoft word is only designed as a word processing programme - it is very difficult to supply print ready files from this programme. See supply pdf above, as a preferred option and you will see from the result exactly how it will print, if this is not what you intended your artwork to look like we strongly recommend using our design service to recreate your artwork for you. - please also see hard copy above.

Microsoft Excel
Newton Press Ltd can accept microsoft excel files, however as microsoft excel is only designed as a spreadsheet programme - it is very difficult to supply print ready files from this programme. see supply pdf above, as a preferred option and you will see from the result exactly how it will print, if this is not what you intended your artwork to look like we strongly recommend using our design service to recreate your artwork for you - please also see hard copy above.

Microsoft Publisher
Newton Press Ltd can accept microsoft publisher files, however as microsoft publisher is only designed as an office based print layout programme - it is very difficult to supply commercial print ready files from this programme. See supply pdf above, as a preferred option and you will see from the result exactly how it will print, if this is not what you intended your artwork to look like we strongly recommend using our design service to recreate your artwork for you - please also see hard copy above.
